30X30 Informative presentation

A couple hundred residents of different counties gathered at the Hiawatha Fisher Center on Sunday, August 11, to hear a presentation on the Federal 30×30 Agenda.  Angel Cushing of Lyon County was the speaker, assisted by Beth Salmans of Marshall County.   The 30×30 program is a plan advanced by radical environmental activists to permanently protect 30 percent of America’s land and oceans by 2030, and much of it is being done without ever notifying any of the county governments of their plan to remove thousands of private acres from the tax base, destroying the economies of the region. Cushing has been sounding the alarm since 2021, on this government overreach and war on agriculture and nutrition. There are many moving parts to this Federal 30×30 Agenda, and every Federal department is now tasked with its implementation.

One specific concern that was not publicized in Kansas is the National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor (NIETC).  The Department of Energy recently unveiled 10 potential areas of grid expansion projects of massive power lines. The Midwest-Plains area is a 5-mile wide and 780-mile long corridor that runs through Kansas and specifically Brown County. If a zone is designated as a NIETC, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) would have the ability to approve a project if a state or regional entity declines the NIETC or takes longer than a year to approve one, bypassing all local control. The projects approved by FERC would carry eminent domain authority. In addition, all energy will likely be sold outside of Kansas.  The proposed map of the Midwest-Plains NIETC appears to follow the Grain Belt Express path, which is already approved in Kansas.

Cushing and Salmans shared their knowledge and gave grassroots strategies to push back against this land grab agenda in our state. One such way is through writing resolutions against such action.  The pair also met with the Brown County commissioners at their meeting Monday, August 12, and presented commissioners with examples of resolutions to adopt against the NIETC. Commissioners Lehmkuhl and Pollock voiced support for drafting a resolution to bring back for commission approval before the end of the month. Cushing informed those present that Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach has also gotten involved, and is requesting copies of all NIETC resolutions adopted by Kansas counties.

Brown County Liberty Alliance and Brown County Blade Watch hosted this presentation.  It was filmed and recorded by Rowdy Meyer of Jackson County, and the full unedited version can be found in a YouTube video under NE Kansas Open Government. We would encourage all those interested to please watch!
